Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work well and respectfully with young adults
  • Prepare lesson plans to correlate with course outline
  • Understand and apply best practices for high school students
  • Maintain and implement positive discipline expectations in classroom and clinical settings
  • Knowledge of and adherence to training site standards
  • Knowledge of and adherence to state mandates for certification
  • Participate in faculty in-services and other after hours events
  • Provide regular student assessments and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Assure students have met all requirements prior to community classroom placement
  • Maintain accurate records and complete reports as required
  • Perform related duties such as participating in special activities
  • Create and utilize industry partnerships
  • Create and maintain clinical setting opportunities
  • Maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, and stakeholders


  • A current California Nursing License (RN or LVN) (NOT Nursing Assistant)
  • A California Vocational Teaching Credential (applicants who do not have a teaching credential qualify to apply but must begin the process to obtain the proper credential prior to start date)
  • AND…


  • One year full time experience as a licensed nurse providing direct patient care in a long-term care facility, and

One year experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing. (Or obtain a DSD certification after employment.)


  • Two years full time experience as a licensed nurse of which at least one year must be in providing direct patient care in a nursing care facility, and prior to teaching a certification program, shall obtain a minimum of 24 hours continuing education courses in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs in nursing.
